Description
This is a five-section Globe-Wernicke modular bookcase, commonly known as a barrister bookcase, made of mahogany wood. Each section features a hinged glass door that lifts and slides back into the unit, a design intended for easy transport and protection of books. The Globe-Wernicke Company, established in 1899 in Cincinnati, was known for producing "elastic" stacking bookcases that could be rearranged and expanded. It dates to the early 20th century and is in fair condition, with some repairs needed and replacement glass. The bookcase measures 34” x 14” x 73.5”.
