Description
Lithograph titled 'Halibut Cove Morning' by Dianna Tillion, numbered 294/1000 and signed by the artist. Diana Tillion (1928–2009) was born in Paradise, California, and moved to Alaska in 1939. She studied art through correspondence and furthered her training in New York, London, and Paris. After marrying Clem Tillion in 1952, she settled in Halibut Cove. In 1958, she began experimenting with ink harvested from local octopuses, becoming the only professional artist known to use this medium. Tillion described the ink as indelible and praised its unique color variations, ranging from purple to green to gold. Her work in this medium was featured in a solo exhibition at the Anchorage Museum in 1971 and displayed nationally. Housed in a silver-tone frame with matte. This item measures 26.25" x 15" and is in good condition with minor wear to frame.
