Description
Framed print of 'In the Mountains' by Albert Bierstadt, featuring a serene wilderness scene with cliffs, waterfalls, and mountain vistas. Albert Bierstadt (1830–1902) was a German-born American painter associated with the Hudson River School. He studied at the Düsseldorf Academy before returning to the United States. Known for his grand landscapes of the American West, Bierstadt joined multiple survey expeditions, including one in 1859, to document the Rocky Mountains and California for the Union Pacific Railroad. In the Mountains features a mountain lake or stream flanked by cliffs and a distant, cloud-covered mountain range. The composition compresses space to frame the wilderness in a contained and visually balanced manner. Measures 32" x 38.5". Ornate wood frame with floral carvings shows minor wear consistent with age. Overall in good condition.
