Description
This is an antique Singer 66 "Red Eye" treadle sewing machine with a six-drawer cabinet and ornate carved drawers. The Singer 66 was introduced in late October 1902 and became known for its horizontal oscillating hook, allowing for easy bobbin insertion and improved stitch quality. It was mass-produced and popular for its high-arm clearance and durable construction. The machine was later manufactured in Scotland, marking the first all-British Singer 66. Singer’s installment payment plan made the model widely accessible. The 66’s horizontal oscillating hook and Class 66 bobbin continue to influence modern sewing machine designs. The C-series machines were produced at the Wittenberge factory. Records were lost when the factory was dismantled following the 1945 Russian invasion. It features serial number C8603329. It measures 35.5" L x 17" D x 31" H and is in good condition.
