Description
This is a limited edition porcelain plate, No. 1159 E, titled The Seamstres by Maud Humphrey Bogart, issued in 1989 by The Hamilton Collection. It is from the Little Ladies series, a collection of eight plates depicting Victorian children at play. Maud Humphrey (1868–1940) was a commercial illustrator and suffragette whose work appeared in books, calendars, and advertising from the 1890s to the 1920s. Trained in New York and Paris, her widely recognized illustrations of children earned her national acclaim and commercial success. This plate measures 8.5" in diameter and is in good condition.
