Description
This is an dichroic art glass horse sculpture from the Manipulated Horse Series, handcrafted by Newy Fagan. The piece bears the artist's signature on the side, which reads "3/27, Newy, 1998". The series, started in 1987, uses ancient kiln-formed glass techniques rediscovered by the artist. Each sculpture is created by fusing layers of compatible glass at temperatures exceeding 1450°F. The process includes shaping the glass while heated and transferring it to a second kiln for annealing to relieve stress. This sculpture is copper-toned with dichroic details on the hooves, eye and rump. The sculpture measures approximately 6" L x 7" H x 2.5" W and is in good condition.
