Description
"Returning" by Eugene Ames Baker Authentic Framed Medieval Painting, done on a smooth hardboard panel. Eugene Baker was an American artist born in Tennessee, 1928, and died in Monterey, California in 1982. Baker was known for his meticulous and stylized medieval oil paintings. His studio was based in Carmel, California where he also sold his paintings through the Zantman Art Galleries, of which this example has also been sold from. This painting depicts a red-haired woman and a medieval knight in black armor riding on horseback through a village. The background is styled with geometric shapes and layered scenes with abstract details, such as bits and pieces of a brick wall blended into the background. The dominant colors of the painting are gold, red, and black. The painting is placed in a frame that measures approximately 44" x 29" and the artwork without frame or matting measures about 36"x 20". Comes with an Appraisal from the Zantman Art Galleries that estimated the value of the painting to be $3000 in 1980, when the artist was still alive. This painting is in good condition.
