Description
This original oil on canvas painting is titled "Surf In Monterey" and is signed by Boris Buzan (1915-1982) on both the front and back. Buzan was born in Opatija, in the Austro-Hungarian province of Istria, later governed by Italy and Yugoslavia after the world wars. Political oppression led him to immigrate to the United States in 1930, where he became a citizen. He studied at the National Academy's School of Fine Arts in New York City, mentored by renowned sculptors including Sidney Waugh, Paul Manship, Walker Hancock, Charles Hinton, Ivan Olinsky, and Ivan Meštrović. The artwork measures approximately 36" L x 24" H and is in good condition.
