Description
This is a hand-knotted wool French wall tapestry depicting a country scene in France during the Tudor/Elizabethan era. On the left, a wandering minstrel entertains a family with his lute. In medieval times, traveling minstrels provided both entertainment and news, as many rural folk were illiterate. The middle section features a walled town or city, with a girl tending to her cattle in the foreground. To the right, a peddler visits another rural homestead, asking for money while his pet monkey entertains the onlookers. This item measures approximately 72" L x 38.5" W and is in good condition.
